Details:

  • Audition materials: Name, Headshot, dance shot, and résumé to info@ciballet.com with the subject line: AUDITION PRE-REGISTRATION.

  • Minimum age 17 by August 2023. Unique cases to be determined on an individual basis.

  • Training includes daily ballet class, along with access to advanced academy classes with styles including contemporary, jazz, modern, and tap.

  • At least four main stage performances alongside the company, with potential additional activities such as community outreach and pop up shows.

  • The small company environment of Central Illinois Ballet allows for unique experiences that are difficult to find in larger programs. Due to the relatively small size of the company, individual attention to the training and development of each of our artists is paramount.  Furthermore, in addition to developing personal artistry and technique, trainees will be able to witness firsthand other equally important parts of the full experience of creating a performance, including lighting, costuming, and backstage tech.

Other important information of note:

  • Trainees are responsible for establishing their own housing arrangements, as Central Illinois Ballet does not provide year-round housing. Trainees must also secure their own transportation to and from the studio and performance venues. Assistance and resources for finding housing may be provided upon request.

  • Program and participation fees will apply.

  • Individual conferences will be held to discuss progress within the program and audition plans for the following season, as well as the potential for another traineeship or promotion into the main company.

By Invitation of Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director ONLY

Central Illinois Ballet offers a comprehensive training program rooted in classical and contemporary styles, created for dancers with professional career aspirations. Trainees will interact with the professional company members, our Artistic Director, as well as perform side by side with our company in several main stage performances. Trainees gain an in-depth understanding of the daily rigorous schedule for a professional dancer. This allows trainees to gain priceless knowledge and experience needed in order to join the larger world of dance, whether in ballet, modern, contemporary, or even Broadway. The Central Illinois Ballet and Cornerstone Academy faculty and artistic staff provide the highest caliber training while emphasizing a universal approach to ensure that each dancer is prepared for a career in the ever-evolving dance world.
