Level 1

Pre-Professional Division

As a general rule, each level is intended to follow a 2 year plan. In the 1st year, the dancer is learning new technical skills and vocabulary. In the 2nd year, the dancer should proficiently demonstrate mastery of the skills in order to advance to the next level. All students progress at their own pace, if additional time would be beneficial for skill building we ask that you trust our educators and instructors to progress the dancer at a rate that is most beneficial for the individual and sets them up for long term success.

Class Opportunities
Ballet
This class teaches fundamental French terminology, body alignment, and musicality. Students practice foundational steps at the barre and in the center, focusing on posture, turnout, and building the muscle memory, flexibility, and discipline required for classical ballet.

Tap
This class introduces the fundamentals of tap technique through beginner-level steps, rhythm exercises, and across-the-floor progressions. Dancers will build coordination, timing, and musicality while developing a strong foundation in tap.

Jazz
This class focuses on the classical and traditional basics of Jazz - body isolations, grounded posture, musicality/syncopations, and facial expressions. Dancers will also begin working on their flexibility.

Performance Opportunities
Students in this level are welcome to participate in Giselle, The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Student Showcase, and Ballet to Broadway!
